Chapter
  Where is the House Located?
Zeta Beta Tau is currently based out of a house at 94 Easton Ave.. [view map]

What happened to the old House at 26 Union Street and everything in it?
The ZBT house at 26 Union Street burned down shortly after the fraternity lost recognition in 1993. The property had already been sold to ZTA Sorority. ZBT was rechartered in 1997 and has changed locations from year to year as they try to find an ideal home. A number of historical items were collected for a big alumni reunion organized in NYC in 1999 which were then passed on to the Chapter. Other items are presumed lost in the fire. From time to time, we have tried to recover or restore some of these items. (See "Current Drives")

What happened to Phi Sigma Delta/ Phi Epsilon Pi/ Kappa Nu/ Phi Alpha
According to the National History, "Traumatic experiences were generated by the polarization over the Vietnam conflict. The American fraternity system - including Zeta Beta Tau, was subsequently affected by the great wave of anti-establishment feeling that was pervasive throughout the country. Many of the Chapters which survived this period of turmoil did so in a weakened condition." In an effort to survive shrinking membership numbers across the country, a number of Fraternities banded together via common traditions. In 1959, Phi Alpha merged into Phi Sigma Delta, and in 1961 Kappa Nu merged into Phi Epsilon Pi. In 1969-70, Phi Sigma Delta and Phi Epsilon Pi merged into Zeta Beta Tau.

What's this I hear that ZBT is now non-pledging?
In 1989, ZBT National adopted a policy of non-pledging for all of its Chapters. Whereas this creates a very different Fraternity from the one many of us knew, the concept is still to promote a deep sense of brotherhood based on shared experiences, but not based upon a dual-class system. The best way to truly understand the way the system now works is to talk to a current brother at one of the alumni/brother events.

How can I get in touch with the Chapter directly?
The Chapter can be reached in one of three ways: by using the Contact Form, or email directly, or call the Chapter house at 201-566-3402. You can also see their website at RutgersZBT.org.

Alumni Association
  Why should I pay dues?
There are a number of reasons that we encourage alumni to pay dues. Alumni dues and donations allow us to provide a number of events and service to our ever-expanding list of alumni- over 1,200 active members in our records. These include the Beta Deltan newsletter, which provides news and events on alumni and the current Chapter. It also allows us to provide for alumni events like Homecoming and our Spring Mixer. In addition to alumni programming, your dues will allow us to help the growing Chapter with their own needs. Finally, as a paid member, you will have access to all areas of this website, which includes the ability to search information for those brothers that you might have lost touch with.

What do my dues go towards?

Your dues help fund things like
     - Alumni Newsletters
     - Alumni Events
     - Special Needs of the Chapter
     - Development of this community site and Full Access to all features.

Website
Why do I have to log in/ Why should I sign in?
Because we want a level of security on this site, there are certain areas that you will only be able to see or have access to when you are logged in. There are also special areas that will only show up to certain groups, like alumni or current brothers.

I signed up for a new account but still can't sign in.
Have you responded to a confirmation email from "alumni@rutgersZBT.org?" Your account is not automatically set up when you fill out a new member form, as we first confirm your email address. Once you fill out a new member form, an email is automatically sent to you with the username and password you have selected. You must respond to this email in order to verify that your email account is active and correct. Once you have responded, accounts are usually set up within 1 business day. If there are any special problems, however, you will be contacted directly.

Why can't I search for alumni?
If you attempt to search the alumni directory, and get an error message it can be for one of the following reasons:
1)  You must be a supporting member of the alumni association. This is one of the many areas that available to those of our alumni who help sponsor the Alumni and the Chapter. You can donate online or via check.
2) You must be signed in.

I already set up a username and password on the list-serve (at yahoogroups). Why do I need a new one?
First of all, our Community site is in NO WAY related to Yahoo or any of its affiliates. Because of this, your yahoogroups information will not work here and you will need to create a new one. This site was able to be designed and programmed thanks to a generous gift by one of our alumni members, and the volunteered services of Twin Towers Design Company (more info here), which is owned and operated by another of our alumni. Our goal is to move entirely away from Yahoo groups while providing all of the same features and more. This allows us to have complete confidence that none of our information is being used by any third-party groups, and should make you feel confident of the same.
